Best of Sports Design 2008
The Best of Sports Design competition is returning for a third year.
Find full details at this link, but the short version is below.
Dates: Nominations will close on Feb. 15, 2009. Panelists will chose category winners from Feb. 17-28, 2009. Online voting for Editors Choice Awards in each category will occur from March 4-14, 2009. Editors Choice Awards will be revealed beginning on March 16, 2009
To enter: Please read details at the above link, but you can send entries to sportsdesigner@gmail.com.
Spread the word: In a year when we're not spending any money on contests, this one is free. It is not just something that should be looked at as an opportunity for accolades, but as an opportunity to showcase yourself, your company and your work for free in front of some of the best journalists in the industry. If you're in college or at a small paper, enter and then tell the person next to you to do the same.
Not to repeat the diatribe I posted on the "Call" link, but we're holding this in spite of a stupidly bad year, and doing so with nothing but respect for all that has happened to ourselves, to our colleagues and to our newspapers, and holding it with an understanding that we all still have professional obligations to our readers, to our bosses and to ourselves.
Category note: We have tweaked the categories this year, after listening to suggestions in the past two years. We have done away with categories that were not getting many entries the last two years, and we have expanded the multimedia categories. And yes, the same entry is welcome in multiple categories.
