Freep goes red
The Stanley Cup Finals begin tonight between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings.
Here are a few preview pages from the Detroit Free Press. Cover illustration by Rick Nease, pages designed by Ryan Ford.
I like the little Penguin targets. Check out the Whack-a-Penguin online game. (I got 316.6).

How about this cover ad in Wednesday's Freep? Whoa.
And then you get Albom in a contained rail; what a joy. Good page considering the circumstances.

I could raaaaaaannt about that ad. (Like how it was first pitched the first time the Wings could clinch a Cup berth, but ONLY if the Wings did. If not, no ad.) Pistons page is by Jeff Tarsha, by the way. He's been doing the heavy lifting on the Pistons coverage...

Great pages, and that game rocks.
By the way, 320.8.
