Boston Herald fills its covers with Patriots apology
The Boston Herald led with an embarrassing apology in today's editions. The paper reported just prior to the 2008 Super Bowl that the Patriots had taped a Rams walkthrough before SB XXXVI.
The paper admits it never viewed such a tape nor spoke "to anyone who had."

Certainly, I'm a proponent of honing up to mistakes, and the debate over just what was honed up to and what exactly the consequences are is now destined for journalistic lore ...
But "Our Mistake" is really really weird to me in 300 point sans. As if the effort went right past the point of sincerity. It has an "Oops. Our bad" connotation.
Like the deck headline should just say "Sh*t happens" or something.
