Salt Lake and preps

The Salt Lake Tribune has launched a new preps Web site, with a bold and modern look.

Readers can localize it to their sport, school or team and the site will feature submitted photos and stories in addition to staff content.

Reader reaction is welcome and will help to shape the site. "We want reader content. We want people to get involved. We have a football poll so people can vote on what additional game we should cover in addition to games we already plan to cover," [ASE Tim Patrick] says.
For Web-savvy coaches and principals, there is a blog to talk to the students, parents and fans.

The site also features a PDF of the Trib's prep football section cover.

Not a ton of comments on this thread, but I gotta point out that SLC's preps Web site really is a stunning body of work. We've just launched our own preps uber-page at the Republic, but these guys really went above and beyond.

Kudos.

And the print cover looks cool, too.

Just to shed a bit more light ... Josh Awtry, our AME for Presentation, came up with the look of the site. It's a look that's completely different than that of the Trib's main web site.

And the ASE quoted is Jim Patrick, sted Tim. He's been taking a ribbing around the office since the post went up, but he can take it.

Thanks!
